:: An Apology ::

Date: June 26th, 2009

Good Morning,

In a recent email, I stated that Council Member Tim Leavitt voted in December 2008 to increase utility taxes (Water & Sewer). The Tax increase, as I understand it, was to provide adeqate funding for police and fire services. That funding was, in my opinion, deliberately left out of the Budget. Threatening voters with cuts in police and fire services if taxes are not raised is a political tactic that is so old it has wiskers.

I erred, Tim did not vote to increase the utility Taxes. He did however vote for the Budget that included them. Having so voted it has the same effect as if he voted for the water/sewer tax increase.

Personally I like Tim, he is a very nice and personable young man. Unfortunately, having voted no on he tax increase he should have in my opinion, voted no on the budget that included the increases.

Again it is my opinion that a politician who is obligated to represent the people he serves and therefore must be ever viligant. The politician must not let anything slip by. He or she must be consistent and once taken a position stand their ground. There should be no doubt on which side of the fence a politician stand.

Again Tim, I apologize.
