Interesting Article in today’s Fish Wrapper; “LIGHT-RAIL ALIGNMENT DIVIDE COMMUNITY”. It is doing more then dividing the Community!!! It is rapidly causing us to lose faith in the Vancouver City Council. Where is the change we voted for? Recently, in his State of the City Speech Mayor Leavitt said, “Deficits mean end to Business as Usual”. When will we start to see the ‘THE BEGINNING OF THE END TO BUSINESS AS USUAL”?

Why, if as promised by the Vancouver City Council, C-Tran and the Clark County Commissioners that “WE THE PEOPLE’ will have the final say on whether or not we will approve a TAX INCREASE to fund the operation and maintenance of “LIGHT RAIL THE GRAVY TRAIN” is the Vancouver City Council continuing to behave as if bringing “LIGHT RAIL THE GRAVY TRAIN” to Vancouver is a done deal?

Why are they (THOSE WHO SUPPORT LIGHT RAIL), ‘DURING THE GREATEST ECONOMIC CRISIS’ SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION’ still spending our Hard Earned Tax Dollars on “LIGHT RAIL THE GRAVY TRAIN” before they know the outcome of the ‘VOTE OF THE PEOPLE’? Apparently there is something they are not telling us or we are in for a surprise.

And they wonder why we ‘DON’T TRUST GOVERNMENT ANYMORE’? Please read the Attachment.

P.S. There is a lot of Good Anti-Light Rail, Anti-Corrupt Government Information Available. Unfortunately we do not have in Vancouver, a Radio Station, a TV station or a Voter Friendly News Paper to help us educate the Taxpayers on how expensive, ineffective and inefficient Light Rail The Gray Train Is or what corrupt politicians at all level are doing to destroy our once great Country. The only way we can get our information out is if we develop a Citizen"s Email Network. Please forward Emails you agree with to your mailing list and ask those on your list to forward to their Mailing List. With a little effort maybe we can turn the Tax and Spend Rascals Around.
Predictions come true. The self serving Democrats in the Olympia, yesterday dropped the first shoe in their "Bait and Switch Tax Plan”. Yesterday they passed a $890 million dollar tax increase that includes a significant increase in the sales tax. Should this idiotic increase in taxes pass the House, they will then start working on ramming down our throats an INCOME TAX.

Lisa Brown, Senate Majority Leader's next step will then be to promise us they will rescind the sales take if we will , in November, just pass a small income tax that will only affect the Rich. What a crock. She and her "band of thieves" know full well that Every Tax Increase eventually finds it way down to the Consumer. But the dictatorial Democrats could care less. All they are interested in is covering their butts. After all it was their and Governor Chris' tax and spend policies that got us into this mess.

Idiotic comments such as the one uttered by Senator Tracey Eide, Democrat-Federal Way, "Do I want to raise taxes? I say no, Hell no. I don't want to raise taxes. Who does? But I have a constitutional duty to Balance this Budget." Those comments say volumes about the democrat’s inability to govern. As I read the Constitution Senator Eide and her partners in crime, have a constitutional duty to maintain a balanced budget. Therefore they should

1. Prioritize Spending,
2. Not use tax dollars to buy vote,
3. Eliminate government waste,
4. Not Spend more than they take in
5. Eliminate subsidized Boondoggle (Light Rail, Legal Kick Backs to Developers, Hotels/Sports Arenas, Parking garages, etc.)
6. EXERCISE SOME FISCAL RESPONSIBLITY

Hats off to the Republicans Led by Senator Don Benton whose valiant attempt to bring some sanity to the Washington State Senate included a vote by the voters to pass this Obscene Tax Increase. Unfortunately the Dem’s don’t like the Voters Voting on issues that directly impact voters and rejected the Republican Suggestions. But that was to be expected. In exercising their assumed dictatorial powers they just threw out a voter approved initiative didn’t they.

November cannot get here too soon.
Subject: Fw: Three Cheers for Obama!

Don't let the subject line scare you. This ties in with your optimism.

That is right – I will say it:

THANK GOD FOR BARACK OBAMA!

He destroyed the Clinton Political Machine – Driving a stake thru the heart of Hillary’s Presidential aspirations – something no Republican was ever able to do. Remember when a Hillary Presidency scared the daylights out of you!

He killed off the Kennedy Dynasty – No more Kennedy’s trolling Washington looking for booze and women wanting rides home. American women and Freedom are safer tonight!

He is destroying the Democratic Party before our eyes!
Dennis Moore had never lost a race – quit
Evan Bayh had never lost a race – quit
Byron Dorgan – had never lost a race – quit
Harry Reid – bid for re-election doesn’t look good

These are just a handful of the Democrats that whose political careers Obama has destroyed! By the end of 2010 dozens more will be!

In December of 2008 the Democrats were on the rise. In the last two election cycles they had picked up 14 senate seats and 52 house seats. The press was touting the death of the Conservative Movement and the Republican Party.

In one year Obama put a stop to all of this and will probably give the house, if not the senate back to the Republicans.

He has completely exposed liberals and progressives for what they are.

Every Generation seems to need to relearn the lesson on why they should never actually put liberals in charge. He is bringing home the lesson very well!

Liberals tax, borrow and spend – check
Liberals won’t bring themselves to protect America – check
Liberals want to take over the economy – check
Liberals think they know what is best for everyone – check
Liberals aren’t happy till they are running YOUR life - check

He has brought more Americans back to conservatism than anyone since Reagan

In one year he rejuvenated the Conservative movement and brought out to the streets millions of Freedom Loving Americans.

Name me one other time in your life that you saw your friends and neighbors this interested in taking back America!?

In all honesty one year ago I was more afraid than I had ever been in my life. Not of the economy but of the direction our country was going. I thought Americans had forgotten what this country was all about. My neighbors, friends, strangers proved to me that my lack of confidence of the Greatness and Wisdom of the American people was flat out wrong.

When the American People wake up, no smooth talking teleprompter reader can fool them!

Barack Obama woke up these Great Americans.

Again I want say

Thank you, Barack Obama!

Letter to the Editors

As a strong supporter of Tim Leavitt during his campaign to become Vancouver’s Mayor and instrumental in encouraging Mayoral candidate Charlie Stemper, who won more than 3000 votes during the Primary, shift his support to Leavitt, I am feel obligated to respond to the
Local Fish Wrapper’s article, “LEAVITT STRIKES A TOUGH TONE”.

Unfortunately because my taxes are so damn high, I chose not to take time off work to attend Mayor Leavitt’s first state of the City Speech.

Based on what I read in the Fish Wrapper, I question what a tough tone means. I must also, offer the Good Mayor some advise, comments and ask some specific Questions. First and foremost I urge the Mayor Leavitt not to become enamored with his position or to start believing his own press releases. He must not lose sight of the fact that his first responsibility is to the Tax Paying Public. As for his comment, “Deficits mean end to Business as Usual”. Just what does that mean? Are we going to?

· Sell the Hilton Hotel, built with 73 million taxpayer dollars and currently being subsidized to the tune 2 million dollars a year.
· End Legal Kickbacks (AKA Tax incentives for Developers)
· STOP spending/increasing/wasting/losing Tax Dollars we don’t have to GIVE, SPEND, WASTE OR LOSE ON:
1. “Light Rail the Gravy Train” until the People have voted on funding the Operation and Maintenance of this Boondoggle.
2. A replacement bridge we neither need nor want, until the people have had an opportunity to vote on “Light Rail the Gravy Train”
3. The “Boise Cascade Waterfront Flood Plain. (14 Million already spent, 30 plus million planned).
4. Giving away property owned by the public (Old Police Station, Monterey Hotel, the Old Denny’s Property, etc.)
5. Increasing Utility Taxes to Fund Police and Fire Services
6. Increasing City Employees’ wages and benefits
7. Increasing Property Taxes
8. Increasing Sales Taxes
9. Increasing Permit Taxes
10. Increasing User Fees
· START LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE.
· REVISE OR ELIMINATE ARCHAIC SECTIONS OF VANCOUVER MUNICIPAL CODES THAT CURRENTLY INTIMADATE SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS
· PRIORTIZE SPENDING WITH POLICE AND FIRE SERVICES AT THE TOP OF THE LIST.
Who The Hell does Senator Lisa Brown (Dem, Liberal, Socialist) think she is. Nine times we have voted down The Democrat's attempts to Ram down our throats an Income Tax.

She and her co-conspirators shouhd be ashamed of themselves. Calling the fact that Washington State "Out of work Citizens" IS AN OPPORTUNITY THAT SHOULD NOT BE WASTED. is at best disgusting.

To add insult to injury these creepy people who call themselves Representative of the People, are insulting our intelligence. They are resorting to the old Bait & Switch Technique. They have set the stage for this highway robbery of our hard earned tax dollars, by increasing our sales taxes NOW. Later as they prepare for the Income Tax Information Blitz, That they will say we will recind the Sales Tax if we the voters would be so kind as to approve an Income Tax. What a Crock. What a bunch of Liars. Once with their foot in the door we will have for ever and ever, two taxes, sales and income.
CUT WASTE, CUT WASTE AND CUT WASTE, AND ELIMINATE BOONDOGGLES, ELIMINATE BOONDOGGLES, AND ELIMINATE BOONDOGGLES ( K Schools, Light Rail the Gravy Train in Seattle and Vancouver, Building a 4 billion dollar bridge that will in the long run cost 10 billion, Building on a flood plain, selling the Hilton Hotel, eliminating legal kickbacks (AKA tax incentive) and the elimination hundreds of Committees & Study groups would be a good place to start.
One of my favorite sayings is "We deserve to be represened Not dictated to". At the Federal Level, Barak Hussein Obama and his gang are saying "To Hell" with what the people want, they are going to get our versions of Health Care, Higher Taxes, and Socialism whether they want it or not.
Subject: Nancy Pelosi Comments

Dear Ms. Taft:

I was listening to your show the other night, and it has actually taken me two full days to calm down enough to write a response regarding the part of Valerie Jarret & Pelosi previous comments, suggesting a book for tea party members, and or supporters basically Politics for dummies. These smug and artificial person's should start packing their face creams, facial masks, and false teeth, and hop on their brooms for one last trip home. Their arrogance, and social elitism, have become so condescending to the peoples of America, that they absolutely need to go. I attended the Tea Party, and I must tell you I am proud to have seen and been a part of the beginning steps of the taking back of America, from an outrageous group of Social elitists. . I really wish Nancy no ill will other than what she is. I think she is an outdated, arrogant, overrated, poisonous, elitist, condescending, evil, nasty, non human, shrill. I could not give or wish her anything more that she has or i
s.

I do find it insulting to the people of America, all parties, all denominations, that she for one moment could represent any one, or any thing. She speaks in circles, and not once have I actually witnessed her to have an actual concept, or a complete thought process. No clarity, no personal conviction, no empathy, no grace and no vision. And certainly NO SOLUTIONS...

I think the Tea Party movement means something more to me than people like Pelosi & Jarret can comprehend. To me it is a group of really fine citizens that are the Americans I have known since I was put on the planet in the 50's. These were or are not radicals, these are people whom have witnessed the gradual decline of moral and economic standards, courage, statesmanship, leadership, sacrifice, the value of hard work, and yes country. It is where politicians use to have a degree of quality, honor, integrity, empathy, and class, and were beyond reproach. I actually find them devoid of any of these qualities.

What I want to really say, is what a shame for America. This is what our representation has become? I hope and wish the Tea Party movement has great success in the years to come. It, to me, is really about restoring a country that is currently broken back to its full capacity. This country was not broken by its citizens, other that we were all too busy running our lives, our business's, and our families, and these whatever they are slipped in like a thief in the night and HIJACKED all that is good about America. Pelosi is a symptom and a cancer. She is the manifestation of what I find wrong about politicians. She cares more for power, than solutions, and lacks any long term vision for America.

I wish that through the grace of common sense, we have the wisdom to send her packing along with a lot of other people who simply forgot what they were hired to do. I have been a Banker for 35 years. I watch the debt clock daily ticking away, and I wonder at what point do we actually break the back of our financial system. I see an economy that is not rebounding. I see trade deficits that are larger than some countries Gross Domestic Product. I see government cutting deals with George Soros that the public is not even aware of. I see politicians that have corrupted the different departments of government for personal pay back, and power, with special exemptions for those that feed at their tables. I see no real solutions being offered to shore up business climate and get America back on its way as a capitalistic country. I just do not see anyone who can put their own power thirst to the side, and actually do what is right for the country first. I find that our servan
ts have become our masters, and we are embracing hate against people we have been told are wealthy, or are business owners......evidently anyone who makes more than 250k a year as a couple or 125k a year as an individual.....In any event, this is my response. I am not so much mad, as I am disappointed, that while I was working, this element took control....but I want you to know...people are figuring your type out...they are waking up...they have and were promised things that have not happened, and they are getting mad, and, there are more of them than there are you.....

So Long Live the Tea Party, and may we send the scoundrels back home, with the same health care their going to cram down our throats. I also think this movement just might be starting to scare them.. In any event, Nancy and Valerie, send me the book...I am sure you have a lot of explaining to do....and by the way, I can hardly wait until us dummies kick you out of office...and Valerie you get yours in the end also. Joe the same small business guy....

I wish I could say good morning, but today headline "Governor OK’s Anti Tax Law Suspension" in the Daily Fish Wrapper just about makes me sick to my stomach. What a bunch of Creeps. Twice Governor Chris vowed that if elected she would not increase taxes. What a Liar. The democrats, who created this mess with their tax and spend mentality are ignoring the voice of the people. Every Democrat and any Republican who voted to tell the people who passed I-960. “Go To Hell" We could care less what you think, besides we have the power to ignore you.”

I would like to share a message that I received from one of my email friends. He was responding to my testimony at Monday’s City Council Meeting. How sad that the Vancouver City Council, Democrats in Olympia and Washington, DC can drive one of those they are duty bound to represent to this. What a bunch of creeps.

Charlie Reese probably did not know of the Vancouver City council, otherwise he would have added 6 more people to this list to make it 551 people……..

What happened -

545 people vs 300 million people

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be - read it!!

The article below is completely neutral, ....not anti republican or democrat.

Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinal has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgements made that impact each one of us every day.

It's a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!

545 vs. 300,000,000

EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545 PEOPLE--By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them..

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits..... The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power..

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

What you do with this article now that you have read it......... Is up to you.

This might be funny if it weren't so darned true.

Good Evening

What a great night. Not only was the council meeting well attended, but the council got an ear full from concerned angry citizens. Chastised for eliminating "Rescue Three", Plotting and planning to waste our hard earned tax dollars, questioning how and why decision are made, to reading to Councilman Campbell the riot act for critiscizing a citizen via his city of Vancouver email, to having their ability to properly prioritizing Spending

Larry

My comments to th Council: Mayor Leavitt was absent.:

Good evening, my name is Larry Patella; I have been a Vancouver resident since 1976. If you have had the opportunity to read any of my email, You must know that I have repeatedly voice my concerns: (a) that nobody is minding the store and (b) my displeasure in the way most politician carry out their Fiduciary responsibilities. You are the custodians of our tax dollars. Yet our tax dollars have and continue to be wasted. From my vantage point you folks are planning on wasting more. Politicians at all levels (every elected official from the proverbial county Dog Catcher to Barack Hussein Obama) are plotting behind closed doors to dig deeper into our pockets.

Unfortunately, your track record in this area is nothing to write home about. Almost without exception, every crazy scheme that you folks or your predecessor have forced upon us has been a colossal failure. Lets take a short trip down memory lane:

Five times, we voted no on spending money we didn’t have for public swimming pools. Our no votes were ignored and several were built. We now have had our first failure. I hope this does not come as a surprise but it cost money to own things.

Twice we went to court with the city because we were denied our constitutional right to vote on building with some 73 million-tax payer dollars the Hilton hotel and convention center. Again we were ignored. To add insult to injury an untold number of taxpayer dollars were spent on studying a dumb hockey rink idea. In these efforts, we private citizens were forced to spent 10’s of thousands of our own dollars fighting in court those of you who were using our taxpayer dollar to silence us. We are now feeding that boondoggle some 2 million dollars a year.

You spent, against citizens objections millions demolishing Monterey Hotel and then gave it away to a friendly developer. You sold the peoples property valued at millions to developers for peanuts. You gave developers huge tax breaks the way Santa Claus gives away lollypops to children.

You have already spent some 14 million dollars on developing a known flood plain without a vote of the people. You are planning to spend another 20 or 30 million dollars that we don’t have. Why, because, without even asking our opinion, you have been convinced it is an opportunity we can’t pass up. Who cares if we don’t have the money to spend or that nothing will be realized, if ever, for another 30 or 40 years.

And Now Behind Door # 3, we must come to grips with the granddaddy of all boondoggles.

You are planning to build a four billion dollar bridge complete with a choo choo train. As I listen to those promoting this Gigantic boondoggle, it is going to solve every problem being experience by the Portland/Vancouver area and for that matter the entire west coast of the United States with one exception. It probably won’t provide us with a cure for cancer.

Now for the $64 Thousand Dollar question: You, Who were elected to listen to and represent us, are continuing to spend our hard earned tax dollars like a drunken sailor. I know how a little about that, I spent 31 years in the Navy. You have in my opinion, lost sight of the fact that we are, at all levels of government trillions of dollars in debt. There is not a hell of a lot of money left that you can squeeze out of us. Pretty soon, the pump will go dry. Then What? As I understand the current program, in order for the choo choo train to be even marginally successful, it will need the Citizens of Vancouver to pony up millions of dollars if we plan to operate and maintain “Light Rail the Gravy Train”. As you are all aware, we the people have been promised by this august group and the county commissioner and others that we will be allowed to vote on whether or not we will approve a tax increase that will pay for that needed operation and maintenance of this not very we
ll thought out program. If we don’t have the money to operate and maintain, why build.

Here is my question Why are we still spending money on studying the Choo Choo Train idea before you know how we the people will Vote. May I be so bold to suggest that (a) you put the choo choo train idea on hold until after we the people have voted? To save money we can ill afford to spend, that vote should be scheduled as soon as possible. The August 2010 Primary would be a good start. And, (b) when we vote no, shouldn’t you tell us what will happen to the entire Crossing project. Since Portland says there will be no bridge without light rail and a no vote means there will be no dollars to operate and maintain Light Rail the Gravy Train, what is your fall back position. I have repeatedly asked this question and have received nothing but blank stares from this council, and the RTC.

You all don’t have a secret plan to negate our no vote do you?

Thank you.

Our Vision: The great American experiment to this day has been a question of a people's capacity to self govern, thus maintaining individual freedoms. When the balance of power between those governed and those given consent to govern become imbalanced, liberty and prosperity suffer. We desire that the essential balance of power, having been tipped to the side of those governing, would be restored to it’s optimal condition.

Our Mission: In all of human history it is found that freedom is the exception, not the norm. The pillars of the American experiment and of the resultant liberty have been a civically moral, educated, and active people. Our mission is to encourage one another, our families, and our communities in these pursuits, thus reasserting civic ownership of our cities, state, and nation.
