WEDA 29/TAMU 40 Update

First of all, Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Second, Attached is the Call for Papers for WEDA 29 & TAMU 40. The dead line for submitting abstracts is fast approaching. If you need, because of the Holiday Activities, Lousy Winter Weather and Business activities, a little more time to get your Abstract into Ram Mohan or Bob Randall please let us know.

Third: Soon we will be going to press with our news letter and WEDA's Journal of Dredging Magazine. FYI and because postal and printing cost are increasing and other reasons too numerous to mention Hard copies will only be mailed to those whose membership dues are paid. if you want a hard copy please insure that your 2009 dues are current not later then January 2, 2009.

Our latest News Letter is in the Mail. You should be receiving your copy soon.

FYI Dr. Ram Mohan's WEDA's Chairman Technical Papers Committee Address in the Exhibitor application pamphlet is in error. For Exhibitors: Booths are going fast. Remember Payment must accompany Exhibitor Application to reserve the space you want.

Speakers: Although the deadline for Abstracts has passed if you have a paper you want to present please send Dr. Mohan or Dr. Randall you abstract/paper as we often have a couple cancellations for various reason at the last minute. Your final paper is due on April 7, 2008.

Tours: In your news letter you will find a form advising us if you plan on participating in scheduled tours, field trips and social function. Please complete and return it with your registration form.

Personal Data: Currently we are more than the usual return mail because of individuals have moved, changed employment etc., Please update your address, position, company, Tel/Fax/Email on the form provided in the newsletter.

To all attending the Brazil Chapter Dredging Conference.

"Come join us for and exciting Welcoming Ice-breaker of the 1st Brazilian Chapter's Dredging Conference. This Icebreaker includes a Bus Ride, leaving from the Intercontinental Hotel at 3:00 PM Sunday 9 December 2007 to the Marina Da Gloria, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, and will continue with a Cruse around the Guanabara Bay of the Chartered 65 foot Schooner.

The Tour will include a coastal trip to the Veado Island and Niteroi's Oceanic Region. Depending on weather conditions the tour will include a cruise through Copacabana Beach (By Water), Returning to the hotel by 7:00 PM, in time for the Brazil Chapter's Social Hour, which starts at 8:00 PM.

The cost of this cruise is $50.00 per person and includes Transportation to and from the Intercontinental Hotel. During the cruise you will be treated to the unforgettable beauty of Rio, Soft Drinks, Beer CAIPIRINHAS (Brazil's National Cocktail made with lemon, and Cachaca, Brazil's National Spirit made through the distillation of sugarcane, Caipivodkas, (Capirinha made with vodka instead of Cachaca) and sandwiches, Fruit, Light Hors d' Oeuvres/Canap�s.

For those attending the tour, you can send your payment to WEDA as long as it arrived at WEDA Executive Offices not later than December 4, 2007 Otherwise tickets will be available at the registration desk which will be open at 8:00 AM Sunday December 9, 2007.

Brazil Chapter Meeting

ABD, Associacao Brasileria de Brasil, (WEDA�s Brazil Chapter) will convene in Rio de Janeiro on December 9, 2007. This four-day event ending on December 12, 2007 will focus on Dredging in South America. This conference will bring together some of the world�s leading experts from Europe, Africa, the Western Hemisphere and Asia.
